Peter Shread



”I try to combine the decorative and topographical aspects of landscapeto produce a strong image.” Peter Shread.

Trained at The Moseley School of Art, Peter became an Art teacher and then Head of Art in a local Dudley school.

Early retirement has now allowed him to concentrate on his own artistic output, producing woodcut and linocut relief prints.

In recent years his work has been selected for several 'open exhibitions' around the UK such as :-

His images of orchestras and musicians were inspired by attending numerous chamber music concerts and the orchestral concerts given by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

He has shown in numerous group exhibitions . His one man exhibitions include  :-

Birmingham University
Churchill College Cambridge
Sebastion Pearson Gallery Cambridge
Buxton Art Gallery and the
Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Gallery .

Prizes include :-
The Manchester Academy prize
First Prize in the RBSA Open Print Exhibition of 2006.
Winner of the 'Landmark Financial Services Award’ for 2 prints in 1999.

Peter has completed several 'public art' commissions :-
1990/ 91    Commissioned by Dudley MBC to design five decorative panels 12 feet by 4.5 feet for    
                  Foster Street subway, Stourbridge. The designs were provided as 3 color woodcuts which
                  were enlarged and enamelled on steel.
1997          Commissioned by Midland Metro to design 7 glass panels featuring local landscapes, for     
                  tram shelters in the West Midlands. These were provided as sceen printed glass panels.
